About Kook Clock

At Kook Clock, we’re all about connecting with nature in a way that feels simple and beautiful. Our journey started 15 years ago when we moved to the Sunshine Coast, drawn to the ocean and wanting to stay in sync with its rhythms. My husband, an avid surfer, was always checking the tide, and I was tired of relying on my phone for everything. We figured there had to be a better way to stay connected to nature—so we came up with the idea for our tide and moon phase clocks.

As someone who’s always been in tune with the moon, I really wanted a clock that tracked its phases too—something meaningful for personal reflection and practical stuff like moon planting. The combination of the ocean’s tides and the moon just felt like the perfect way to bring a little nature into our homes.

My husband, a skilled furniture maker, puts his heart into every clock he creates, crafting them with a real love for wood, the beach, and all things creative. After losing his mum to cancer last year, we realized how short life is and how important it is to do what you love. That moment really lit a fire in us to create something that meant more.

All our clocks are handmade right here on our little farm in the hinterland. We take pride in using locally sourced, sustainable hoop pine for our smaller clocks, and we make sure they’re laser-engraved without any harmful emissions. We also use raw timber that’s naturally felled or leftover from building projects—stuff that would just end up in a landfill otherwise. Sustainability is at the core of everything we do.

What makes Kook Clock stand out is that we’re the only Australian company offering raw timber tide clocks made from sustainable materials. We’re proud to be part of a small but growing movement that’s bringing eco-friendly, locally made products to people who love the ocean, nature, and good craftsmanship.

So whether you’re into the ocean, love timber, or care about sustainable living, we’d love for you to check out our handmade clocks—crafted with love and purpose.
